Sasha Zitter

Clinical Operations Director

Sasha is a first-year medical student at New York Medical College. During her undergraduate education at UC Berkeley, Sasha became the first Trauma Navigator at Highland Hospital, Oakland’s county hospital, where she did social work with victims of violent crime. In this role, she saw firsthand the inequity in who was and wasn’t allowed access to vital, lifesaving resources. This realization spurred her commitment to building pathways to care and protection for people navigating the most vulnerable times in their lives. Between college and medical school, Sasha worked on health policy research at KFF, the U.S.’s largest non-partisan health policy organization, on their Program on the ACA. There, she further learned about how health policy can make a large-scale impact on the health and safety of under-resourced people, and her research strengthened her desire to advocate for all things relating to healthcare delivery and access.

Sasha is thrilled to be working as the Co-Director for Clinical Operations at NYMC’s Center for Human Rights and is honored by the opportunity to work with a team of people so committed to improving the lives of others.
