Emily Luo

Executive Director

Emily is a first-year medical student at New York Medical College. Her upbringing in an immigrant household, along with her gap year experiences working at a primary care clinic in Tucson, Arizona, caring for underserved immigrant patients, led her to seek opportunities to advocate for and connect with vulnerable communities during her medical education.

In addition to her work with NYMC CHR, she volunteers with Neighbor’s Link, an organization that offers education and empowerment programs to integrate new immigrant families into the community. She also serves as a student delegate under the Medical Society of the State of New York, where she has collaborated with fellow medical students on writing resolutions for making healthcare facilities mandated ICE-free zones in New York.

She is immensely grateful for the privilege to serve as co-executive director and is excited to work together with the executive board to expand CHR’s outreach and help more asylum seekers.
