Born and raised in a neighborhood that boasts the Guinness World Record for most languages spoken per square foot (check out Jackson Heights, Queens!), I relished in the richness of multiculturalism since childhood. And, as a Kurdish-American, I have seen just how difficult the process of asylum seeking can be in this country. As a member of NYMCCHR, I hope I can utilize my time and skills to make the asylum process that much easier for seekers and to advocate for greater community resources and involvement for those who have been granted asylum.
